MASVINGO- With the introduction of the Heritage-based learning, Education 5.0 which proffers support to talented youngsters, an upcoming Masvingo bred artist has found a nexus between his academics and creative career.
Hailing from Masvingo at a time that many of his peers are plagued with substance abuse, Charles Kuda, a young artist from Sisk has been a game changer amongst his agemates, as he has established a glowing music career.
Talent-driven, Kuda defiled all odds that stood in his way, first from the challenges at home and the society he grew up in, but with a vision he has stood tall, with his dreams forecasting greatness and something the whole nation will marvel at.
The talent of the former Dikwindi Primary School student could be noticed even from a young age, and it was finally put on the spotlight upon proceeding to Mucheke High School where he did his High School up until Upper Six this year.
Unique to him is his ability to balance academics with his natural talent, with the youngster having recently completed his Advanced level examinations and is waiting for the results, yet he has been in the music industry for six years.
Charmed by his talent, The Midweek Watch spoke to the rising starlet, who has a potential to dominate the entertainment soon in the near future.
“I started singing when I was in form 1 after my neighbor discovered my talent when I was raping whilst he plays some bits and gave me the courage to write a song and record to the local studio ,my first song was Ndodada newe,it was very difficult to balance school work and going to studio but I had to manage for the love of my talent”,he said.
With his talent evident, breaking into the music scene was a challenge as his uncle and aunt did not support his career in the early stages.
“My uncle and aunty didn’t support me, they always encourages me to focus on books , however after I realized ndinodada newe they started to listen to my music, the whole street played it ,it was also played at Hevoi FM radio station this is when they started to believe in me.”
More to that , the boy went on to say that he was motivated by the zimdancel artist the likes of KillerT,Wink D an Freeman,”when I was in primary level I used to have an mp3 player which I listen to music because I love songs, despite that ,I sing love songs only because people should learn to love each other despite the circumstances “, said Charles in an interview.
This year 2024 , Charles did not release any song due to some reasons which includes shortage of money to record the songs and also his studies didn’t give him the chance to do it.Charles also noted that ,”as young artist we face different challenges,as we have to sponsor our self ,we lack courage our parents this is why some no longer record songs because of money, and our songs are not played across Zimbabwe it’s only my friends, family members and I this why we are not recognized in the country”.
” I remember it was around 8pm when Charles left the house to record his music and came back at 2am,as a guiden I was not interested with it , I tried to stop him but as a talented child it was unstoppable, then I end up supporting his talent and I always listen to his music ,I also wish if this children can get sponsors so that they can persue their carrier in singing because due to lack of money they are being dragged down”said Mrs D Kufa.
