Chivi grandpa dies after challenging tsikamutanda on goblins

MIDWEEK REPORTER

CHIVI-Solomon Geja (69) from Chibaya Village under Headman Madyangove died on the spot after he denied allegations by a tsikamutanda (witch hunter) that he had some goblins.

Geja flatly denied dabbling in the underworld when a tsikamutanda challenged him to renounce his tools of trade on 22 November 26, 2024 at the family’s homestead during a cleansing ceremony.

Tsikamutanda went on to start his rituals and it was during that process that Geja fell and died on the spot without uttering a word.

Masvingo Province police deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu told The Midweek Watch that the family invited tsikamutanda for a cleansing ceremony following a spate of misfortunes allegedly blamed on Geja.

A tsikamutanda from Ngundu in Chivi started performing his rituals and told Geja to confess but he refused and in a few minutes he collapsed and died on the spot.

Mashava police attended the scene of the incident and took the body to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for a post mortem.
