MASVINGO-Prominent Masvingo businessman Commissioner Sternly Kondongwe, who runs several companies spanning mining, haulage trucks, manufacturing, engineering, motor sales, farming, fuel, and vehicle repairs, has bagged another prestigious award at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce annual awards ceremony.
The multi award winning businessman, Commissioner Kondongwe was adjudged the second runner up in the Businessman of the Year category at annual ZNCC national awards held at Elephant Hotel in Victoria Falls recently.
Kondongwe, who runs Byword Motors, Byword Logistics, Jadecon Foods, Jadecon Construction, Jadecon Engineering, Mhande A and B farms, and Bayfound Pvt Ltd which is into quarry mining is also a Commissioner with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS).
Over the years, he has also played an active role in community development through sponsorship of football and several charity golf tournaments like the ZPCS Commissioner General’s Goodwill Fund, Mayor’s Xmas Cheer Fund among others.
Speaking in an interview with The Midweek Watch, Kondongwe expressed gratitude for the latest recognition, describing it as a reflection of the dedication and teamwork behind the company’s success.
“This is my second award from the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce, and we are very grateful for this recognition. It encourages us to continue working hard and pursuing excellence in everything we do,” he said.
Last year he walked with the Masvingo Province ZNCC Businessperson of the Year award.
Kondongwe said the award was not a personal achievement alone but belonged to the entire team, whose commitment has enabled the company to grow to be where it is today.
“We support the vision of the company, and this recognition motivates us to continue serving our customers and contributing to the growth of our business and the economy,” he said.
He said the award would inspire the company to maintain high standards while pursuing innovation and expanding its contribution to the country’s economic development.
The ZNCC national awards recognise businesses, entrepreneurs and organisations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation and excellence in advancing Zimbabwe’s economy. Kondongwe’s latest accolade adds to his growing list of achievements and reinforces his standing as one of Masvingo Province’s prominent business leaders.
