MILLICENT HUNGWE
MT DARWIN — Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Honourable Kazembe Kazembe, has commissioned the newly constructed Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Dotito Police Station in Mt Darwin, Mashonaland Central Province, as Government steps up efforts to modernise policing infrastructure and improve service delivery.
The new police station comprises modern offices, residential houses and other supporting infrastructure designed to create a conducive working environment for police officers while improving access to policing services for communities in the area.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba, local traditional leaders, senior police officers, members of other security services and Government officials.

Speaking during the ceremony, Minister Kazembe said, “The development of modern police infrastructure was part of Government’s broader commitment to transforming the country’s security sector and ensuring that police officers were adequately equipped to effectively serve communities.”
The new Dotito Police Station is expected to strengthen the capacity of the ZRP to respond to crime and other security concerns in Mt Darwin and surrounding communities, while also improving the welfare of police officers through the provision of better accommodation and working facilities.
The project comes as Government continues to invest in police infrastructure across the country, with the modernisation programme aimed at creating efficient, accessible and community-oriented policing services.
The presence of senior Government and security officials at the commissioning ceremony underscored the importance attached to improving policing infrastructure and strengthening security service delivery.
The commissioning of the Dotito Police Station marks another milestone in Government’s ongoing efforts to modernise the ZRP and provide police officers with the infrastructure necessary to effectively discharge their constitutional mandate of maintaining law and order and protecting communities.
