The ZRP has opened a new police base at Zindele Village, a development expected to improve access to police services and strengthen efforts to combat crime in the area.
The new police base was officially opened during the ZRP Collen Bawn Client Service Charter Relaunch, which was presided over by the Officer in Charge of ZRP Collen Bawn, Inspector Thabolwethu Sibanda.
The establishment of the base is expected to ease challenges previously faced by villagers in accessing police services, as the nearest police station was approximately 70 kilometres away.
Inspector Sibanda said the police base would play a critical role in addressing crime affecting the community, particularly stock theft and offences associated with mining activities.
The proximity of the police to the community is also expected to enhance police response to reported cases and strengthen cooperation between law enforcement officers and residents.

ZRP National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the development, saying the opening of the police base was part of efforts by the police to bring services closer to communities.
The development is expected to provide relief to residents who previously had to travel long distances to access police services, while also improving crime prevention and public safety in the Zindele area.
The police have urged members of the community to work closely with officers based at the new facility by reporting criminal activities and providing information that can assist in preventing and solving cases.
