5 perish in another Chaka horror accident
Five people including a toddler are feared dead at Chaka business centre after a Honda Fit pirate taxi which failed to give way was hit by a Ford Everest which was coming from Masvingo this morning (7-9-24).
An eyewitness who runs a grocery shop at the busy intersection confirmed the sad news to The Midweek Watch on condition of anonymity.
“Yes its true there was a horrific accident today in the morning and it happened right before my eyes, a Honda Fit was coming the direction of Hama and turning to the right going to Driefontein Hospital with passengers on board.
“The Honda Fit failed to give way and it was hit by a Ford Everest resulting in some vendors being run over,” said the shop owner.
Two people died on the spot while three others died on their way to Driefontein Mission Hospital according a nurse at the health institution.
Two days ago a haulage truck was also involved in an accident at the same spot that claimed the lives of two people.
Efforts to get a comment from ZRP national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi were unsuccessful as his mobile number was not reachable.
