Hubby (29) bludgeons wife (46) to death over birth tablets

MIDWEEK REPORTER

CHIPINGE-As the senseless murder cases over the festive season continue to soar, a Chpinge man went a step further and callously killed his wife by driving a 3inch nail into her chest with a claw hammer.

Mabicaland province acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka.

It is alleged that on December 31, 2024 in Gaza Township in Chipinge Town at around 3pm, Elizabeth Mlambo (46) had a misunderstanding with her husband, Felix Maposa (29) over infidelity issues and a fight ensured.

Maposa also accused his wife of lying that she was pregnant yet she was taking birth control tablets.

During the fight Maposa pulled out a 1m long aluminum pipe from under a bed and started hitting the deceased until she collapsed.

Not satisfied with what he had done to the hapless woman, Maposa took a claw hammer and a 3inch long nail and drove it into Mlambo’s chest.

He also used the claw hammer to remove the 3inch nail from the chest after being satisfied that she had actually died.

Maposa covered the body with a white cloth and locked up the two roomed wooden shack from outside and went on to celebrate the new year with other revelers at Dzonzai Night Club in Chipinge Town.

At around 2am on January 1, 2025 Maposa went back to Gaza and forcibly opened the door of his shack so that it would appear as if some robbers entered the room in his absence.

At around 9am he went to Chipinge urban police and made a report that his wife had been murdered by unknown people and they forcibly opened the door of their shack.

The body was ferried to Chipinge Hospital for a postmortem and Maposa was taken in for intense questioning until he confessed to have committed the heinous crime.

He was arrested and is set to appear in court.

Manicaland province acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka appealed to couples to seek counselling in the event of a misunderstanding in the family and to stop taking the law into own hands.
