BIKITA-In an incident that has left villagers in Bikita in a state of shock, a 102 year old man was found murdered in cold blood in his bedroom.
Imbayarwo Nyemba of Tarambiwa Village under Chief Mukanganwi was found dead in a pool of blood in his bedroom hut by his wife Marudana Nyemba (87) on Sunday with a steel chair placed on his back and an open wooden tool box placed on his feet.
Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the sad incident to The Midweek Watch and said the culprit has not been apprehended.
“I can confirm the incident, however the perpetrator who committed this murder is not known and the police is appealing to the members of the public for information that can assist in the apprehension of the culprit,” said Dhewa.
He said on January 06 at around 1900 hours the deceased and his wife retired for the night and went to sleep in their respective bedrooms which are 50 meters apart.
The next morning at around 5am, the wife woke up and noticed that the door to her husband’s hut was open.
She rushed to the hut and upon arrival she immediately noticed that her husband was unusually sleeping with face down and there was also some blood oozing from the head.
Marudana then went on to alert the village head, Tivaringire Ganha and a police report was made.
Police attended the scene and found the deceased with deep cuts on his head and forehead.
The police preliminary investigations also established that the perpetrator broke the door and entered the deceased’s hut by force.
