MUREWA-While Grand Legacy Football Club were busy recording one of the biggest wins so far in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League – a 6-0 thumping of Power FC at Musami Stadium in Murewa over the weekend – another picture was quietly unfolding in the terraces.

Newly appointed fitness coach Tichaona Wesere was forced to watch the demolition from the stands, despite having been pictured taking the first team through their paces in the build-up to the match.
Sources close to The Midweek Watch revealed that Wesere was barred from sitting on the technical bench for the Power FC clash because he was not part of the team that had slept in camp in preparation for the game.
Ironically, juniors coach Remember Chidembo is said to have also missed camp, yet he was allowed to sit in the dugout during the 6-0 rout of Power FC.
The double standard has raised eyebrows within the Grand Legacy camp.
The source further disclosed that a “cold war” is brewing between goalkeepers’ coach Tafadzwa Dube and Wesere, with the former allegedly pushing for Wesere to be frozen out of the Grand Legacy FC set-up led by head coach Collin Murimi.
Wesere’s relegation to the terraces on match day, despite his involvement in training during the week, has only fueled speculation of a rift behind the scenes.
Wesere is no lightweight in Eastern Region football circles. He is a former coach at Murehwa-based JM Busha FC, who briefly featured in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League last season before pulling out.
Before that, he made his name as a shrewd tactician with former league side Surrey FC a few years ago, earning respect for his work with limited resources.
His appointment at Grand Legacy was seen as a statement of intent by the ambitious Murehwa outfit, with his fitness and conditioning expertise expected to complement Murimi’s technical team.
But the events of the weekend suggest all is not well in the camp, even as results on the pitch shine.
The big question now: Is this a disciplinary matter over camp procedure, or is Wesere being deliberately sidelined amid internal politics?
With Grand Legacy flying high after their 6-0 statement win, the last thing they need is a divided technical team.
The Midweek Watch will keep a close eye on developments at Musami Stadium.
