Four killed in road accident

SHURUGWI-Four people died on the spot, while four escaped with varying injuries after a Toyota Wish carrying seven passengers veered off the road and hit a tree.
The accident occurred at the 43km peg along Gweru-Zvishavane road on May 6, 2024 at around 6pm.
The names of the deceased will be released in due course, Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, has said.
Insp Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that Trymore Mapolisa (47) was the driver of the vehicle which was traveling towards Shurugwi.
Upon reaching the 43 km peg, Mapolisa lost control of the vehicle, it veered off the road to the left side and hit a tree which was beside the road.
“Four people who were in the vehicle died on the spot while the other four were injured,” said Mahoko.
The bodies were taken to Shurugwi District Hospital mortuary while the injured are admitted at the same Hospital.
Police urged motorists to avoid speeding when on the road so as to avoid loss of life and property.
