MASVINGO CITY-A daring employee fled with his employer’s car while loading groceries in town.
Businessman Tamburirai Muzvidziwa (45), from Clipsham Masvingo has reported the theft of his Mazda CX-5 with registration number AFW9607, valued at $12,000.
The incident occurred on April 15 around 1430hrs in the Central Business District (CBD) of Masvingo.
Masvingo Province police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, confirmed the incident saying, Muzvidziwa had given his former employee, Joseph Paidamoyo Mhembere (23), from Chesvingo, Masvingo, the keys to load groceries into the vehicle. However, Mhembere fled with the car and switched off his phone.
Muzvidziwa tried to contact Mhembere, but his phone was off, and he realized that the vehicle was missing. The police have been informed, and investigations are underway to recover the stolen vehicle.
“We are investigating a case of theft involving a Mazda CX-5 which was stolen in the CBD, and we urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigations.”
The police are appealing for information that can lead to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrest of the suspect.
