WEIRD things never cease to happen! A cheeky serial rapist (21) from Plumtree who decided to take a nap after raping a woman was easily apprehended naked while in deep slumber inside his victim’s bedroom.
As a result Mqondisi Khupe from Mlivi homestead in Madlembuzi was not only handed over to the police, but was left nursing a lacerated forehand after receiving a thorough beating from villagers.
The incident happened on 22 January in Madlembuzi and Khupe is now facing two counts of rape and robbery charges.
According to an internal police memo seen by this publication, Khupe first attacked and raped a 13 year old girl on the afternoon of 21 January.
The minor (name withheld for professional reasons) was walking on a footpath in the company of her sister and other kids on their way home from Church, when she was attacked by Khupe.
“She was apprehended by accused who grabbed her by the neck and she screamed and the other kids fled.
“Her sister tried to intervene, but was he threatened to assault her with a knobkerrie and she also fled and went on to notify her uncle about the matter,” reads the memo.
However, when the uncle returned to the spot, Khupe fled but he had already sexually abused the minor.
As that was not enough, the police said Khupe on 22 January around 0300hours went to his second victim’s homestead who was sleeping with her 5 year old daughter.
“He broke the complainant’s bedroom window and gained entry armed with a knobkerrie and a machete.
“Whilst inside he grabbed the complainant by the neck threatening to kill her if she makes noise and he proceeded to rape her once without using a condom,” reads the memo.
After the sexual attack police said the he then demanded cash from his victim and was given R1 500.
“Khupe left the bedroom and vanished into the darkness but returned ten minutes later.
“While he was away his victim had texted a message to her sister’s brother telling him what had happened,” reads the memo.
Upon his return the police said Khupe slept naked besides his victim and started caressing her before he fell in deep sleep.
“The relative who had received the text arrived at the homestead 15 minutes later and when the entered the bedroom he saw Khupe naked and fast asleep.
“When he was being apprehended, he tried to resist but was struck with a knobkerrie on the forehead,” the police said.
The victims were taken to Plumtree district hospital for examination.
