KADOMA-The government of Zimbabwe has handed over two classroom blocks, one ablution facility, and an 85-meter deep borehole to Easterlea Primary School in Chakari, Kadoma.
The state-of-the-art facilities were constructed by Craft Properties Holdings, which also sunk a solar-powered borehole to provide the school with clean, portable water.
In addition to the infrastructure upgrades, Craft Properties donated 15 residential stands and 10 wheelchairs to people with disabilities in the mining community.
The donation underscores the transformative power of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in advancing educational infrastructure.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Torerayi Moyo said the initiative represents a significant stride towards achieving the sustainable development objectives outlined in the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).
“By investing in educational facilities, we are not only enhancing the learning environment but also laying the groundwork for a more educated and skilled workforce, essential for realizing the ambitious goals set forth in Vision 2030,” Moyo said.
He added that the education sector is at the core of nation-building and that the donation fosters a conducive learning environment.
Moyo recognized the invaluable contributions that private entities make in advancing national development agendas.
He highlighted that such collaborations harness diverse expertise and resources necessary to propel the education system toward excellence and align it with the broader developmental goals of the nation.
Craft Properties Holdings founder and director Kudakwashe Taruberekera stated that the company has diligently invested in the education sector by providing learning facilities, clean water, and digital connectivity for the underprivileged in the society and underdeveloped areas.
“The transformation we have witnessed within these communities is a testament to the power of collective action and the potential within all of us to make a positive impact,” Taruberekera said.
The company has built a legacy of philanthropy by supporting vulnerable communities across the country including the recent donation of wheelchairs to the disabled in Masvingo Province.
