-as married woman dies at same spot with lover
MASVINGO CITY-Tragedy struck the Masvingo policing community when two cops died one after the other in separate road traffic accidents.
The first accident happened at the 82km peg along Jerera Chiredzi Road on August 4 when officers who were driving to a crime scene in a Land Rover owned by sugar producer Tongaat Hulett plunged into a narrow bridge and a cop drowned in the process.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi told The Midweek Watch that the deceased, Constable J.M. Matosi was in the company of six others when the driver of the Land Rover tried to overtake a truck at the 82km peg and plunged into a canal at a narrow bridge.
Nyathi said when the driver discovered that it was not possible to overtake the haulage truck at the narrow bridge he tried to go back to his lane but failed to control the vehicle and it plunged into a canal resulting in other cops sustaining injuries and the deceased drowning in the process.
The second fatal accident happened on August 7 at around 6am where a cop, Agent Bhagu who was driving a Honda Spike struck Muchineripi Munodawafa at the 2km peg along Beitbridge Masvingo Road (craft centre).
Munodawafa died on the spot.
Meanwhile, this publication has been reliably informed that a woman in the company of her lover died on the spot at the same craft centre following a head on collision with a haulage truck at around 11pm yesterday (8-8-24).
The informant said the married woman identified as Mai Mukudzei from Rujeko was driving her tenant’s Toyota Corolla without her permission and went on to pick her married lover to get into town to have a good time.
It is said the woman’s lover died today at Masvingo Provincial Hospital where she was he was admitted.
