Masvingo – The annual Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) Sungano Yevarume national games took place at Zimuto Mission on August 3, 2024, with DK Construction as the main sponsor.
The tournament brought together teams of married men (Sungano men) from various Rangano Huru in Zimbabwe, whose aim is to promote evangelism through soccer. RCZ Runyararo congregation emerged victorious, taking home the floating trophy.
The event was a resounding success, with participants and spectators alike praising the initiative’s unique blend of sports and evangelism. The games provided a platform for the men to come together, showcase their skills, and share their faith.
The organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants, officials, and supporters, looking forward to future editions of the tournament.
RCZ Runyararo congregation’s coach, Tarisai Munengiwa, praised his team’s dedication and teamwork.
“We are overjoyed with our victory, and I am proud of each and every one of my players. This win is a testament to our hard work and commitment to our faith,” said Munengiwa.
In a gesture of appreciation, all teams that made it to the quarterfinals were awarded a full kit uniform, recognizing their achievements and encouraging them to continue promoting evangelism through sports. Masvingo congregation emerged as the first runner up.
The RCZ Sungano Yevarume games have a rich history, dating back to their inception when Nyaningwe Supermarket was the main sponsor.
Over the years, the tournament has grown in popularity and scope, with DK Construction taking over as the main sponsor this year. The event continues to be a beacon of hope and unity, promoting evangelism and sportsmanship among the RCZ community.
