Chipinge man on the run for attempted murder

Date:

KIMBERELY KUSAUKA

CHIPINGE-Clifford Gurwe (40) is on the run after he allegedly left Langton Mukombo (55) badly injured, after accusing him of reporting him to the Police for an undisclosed issue.

Mukombo from Chimusoro Compound at Newcastle Farm was left for dead by Gurwe of Chimusoro Village under Chief Mutema as he was coming from his field where he had gone to collect some poles.

The incident happened on Wednesday May 22, 2024 at around 2pm.

Mukombo met Gurwe, who is on the run from justice, in a bushy footpath who accused him of reporting him to the police for an undisclosed offence.

Gurwe started assaulting Chimusoro with clenched fists, kicked him with boots in the ribs, hit him with stones and a machete from a neigbhouring homestead and struck the complainant in the head.

The neighbours had a torrid time as they were restraining the accused from further assaulting the complainant who was passing out due to assault by Gurwe who had literally turned into a beast.

Manicaland province acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector, Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the disturbing news to The Midweek Watch in a telephone interview.

The matter was reported at Junction Gate police base, but the suspect is at large as he managed to run away from the scene before the arrival of the law enforcement agency.

Mukombo suffered badly broken ribs, deep cuts on the forehead and was taken to Chipinge District Hospital where he is admitted and in a serious condition.
