HARARE-The vibrant sounds of Zimbabwean music are set to resonate even louder in 2024 as the Chibuku Road to Fame competition returns, promising to unveil a fresh wave of talent.
Under the stirring theme, “Bvirarira, Tshay’iNgoma,” this esteemed talent search is not just an event, it’s a movement dedicated to recognizing and nurturing the country’s emerging artists.
Irimayi Muzorewa, the Marketing Director for Delta Corporation, expressed the excitement surrounding this year’s competition.
“We are thrilled to see our brand connect with consumers and support the next generation of up-and-coming artists on their journey to stardom,” he said.
He emphasized that the Chibuku Road to Fame has a rich legacy of success stories and continues to empower aspiring musicians with valuable recognition and support.
Running from September 28 to November 9, 2024, the competition will feature ten provincial finals across Zimbabwe, culminating in a grand finale in Harare.
The stakes are high, with substantial cash prizes awaiting winners at both provincial and national levels.
The provincial finals will offer significant rewards from US$2,500 for the first prize, US$1,500 for second, and US$1,000 for third.
The national champions will walk away with a whopping US$15,000 and a recording contract, alongside second and third prizes of US$10,000 and US$7,500, respectively.
Muzorewa highlighted the collaboration with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ), stating that “Through close collaboration with NACZ, we are committed to nurturing fresh talent and supporting the arts.”
This partnership not only elevates the competition but also underscores the importance of music as a unifying force within the community.
The provincial competitions kick off with events in Harare and Matabeleland South over the weekend of September 28 , followed by contests in Mashonaland Central at Club 007 Glendale, Zvishavane in Midlands on Oct ober 5 respectively and Bulawayo the following weeks.
Each venue promises to be a hub of creativity and passion, where aspiring artists will showcase their talents before a live audience.
The Chibuku brand has long recognized the power of music and dance in fostering connections among its consumers.
“This initiative offers Chibuku a unique opportunity to connect with and engage consumers nationwide, creating an unforgettable season of music, talent, and inspiration,” Muzorewa remarked.
As the Chibuku Road to Fame 2024 builds up, musicians from all corners of Zimbabwe are encouraged to register with the NACZ and seize the opportunity to shine.
