RUTENGA-In a development that will go a long way in transforming the education landscape of Mwenezi District and Rutenga Growth Point in particular, Busy Bee ECD has been transformed into a fully fledged school, now called Busy Bee Academy.
The innovative veteran educationist, Veronica Chisanga Gumbo who is co-director of the Busy Bee Academy was over the moon as she shared the news with The Mid-Week Watch.
” We are now a fully fledged school, operating from ECD A up to Grade 7″ said Gumbo. She went on to shade more light on the packages that comes with being an academy.
“Since the inception of Busy Bee we were concentrating on Early Childhood Development but now we are no longer limited to ECD” explained Gumbo.
Busy Bee Academy opened its doors in 2005 as a small center with just eight learners, 5 boys and 3 girls.
It is interesting to note that the center has grown in leaps and bounds as it now commands a staggering enrollment of 155 learners.
Parents are always jostling to enroll their children at this center which has shown distinct qualities in grooming the kindergartens and giving them a firm foundation for future learning.
The academic prowess of Busy Bee Academy is felt in the local schools as the products of this institution dominate in the top ten at Rutenga and G&N Primary schools in Rutenga Growth Point and also excel in co-curricular activities.
It is amazing to note that Busy Bee Academy continues to monitor the performance of its products at local schools as the administrators and teachers would always grace the closing ceremonies and shower their outstanding former students with presents for excelling in different school activities.
“I am a mother, l know the importance of motivating learners, l have a bond with my products, that’s the reason why you will find us at closing ceremonies as we motivate our products to keep doing good,” explained Gumbo.
Busy Bee Academy is known for its unique gymnastics and drum majorettes teams which resonate with the old adage “catch them young” as the young kids have mesmerized the audience at different ceremonies.
In 2023 the Busy Bee Academy gymnastics and drum majorettes did wonders at Zvomupungu water project commissioning, an event which was graced by The Provincial Education Director, Shylatte Mhike.
Busy Bee Academy is co- directed by Veronica Chisanga Gumbo and Rex Percy Gumbo who are a couple. Veronica Chisanga Gumbo is a holder of a Bachelor in Education Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and is currently studying for a Masters in Business Administration with the Great Zimbabwe University.
