A Nyazura man from Kanduna Village under Headman Mupambawasha, drowned himself in a village well after undisclosed endless disputes with his employer.
Tanetsiwa Mapako (40) left a suicide note in which he alleged that his employer was ill treating him.
Manicaland Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed that Mapako was found dead by Ropafadzo Ndleve in the early hours of Tuesday.
Ndleve had visited the Mapako homestead intending to fetch water.
“Mapako and his wife Farisai Siwira (45) of the same village were in the dining room at around 6pm on Monday last week.
“Mapako then told his wife that he was troubled by the way his employer, Titus Muzamendo was treating him. On the same day at around 7pm Siwira retired to bed leaving Mapako in the dining room.
“On 22nd April 2024 at around 5am, Ropafadzo Ndleve went to the well at Mapako homestead intending to fetch water. She found the well opened,” Chinyoka told The Midweek Watch.
Ndleve noticed a left side tennis shoe, a torch, 2 matchboxes and a sachet of tobacco on the well slab.
She identified the shoe as that of Mapako and alerted Farisai Siwira who rushed to peep inside the well.
They discovered a human body in the well and reported the matter to the police.
Mapako’s body was retrieved from the well and had a swollen face, bruises on the back and stomach.
A suicide note was found on the kitchen door written ‘Makey ayo ndazorora’ (Here are the keys I have rested).
The body was taken to Rusape General Hospital for post mortem.
