MBERENGWA – ZIFA Midlands Province Division 2A league leaders Black Eagles moved four points clear on the summit of the log table after sealing a double over local rivals Mbesa FC after a 1-0 victory in a breathtaking encounter at Education Stadium over the weekend.
A solitary goal by Mandla Ngwenya was enough for the Buchwa-based Black Boots side to collect the maximum points they are used to. The result means Black Eagles maintain the top spot on the log table with 41 points from 18 games and are now four points clear of Mbesa.
However, Chachacha FC had a fine outing, trouncing Mvuma Stars FC 5-2, meaning that after collecting maximum points, their points tally moved to 39. This also means that they dislodged Mbesa from second position and are now two points behind leaders Black Eagles.
Despite the loss to Black Eagles, Mbesa is still in the championship matrix with three matches left before the season curtain comes down.
The Black Eagles Team Manager Wilbert Zveshure had this to say.
“The game was tough if I can say and it was indeed a sweet victory considering that we played under protest. The match officials allowed an unregistered player from Mbesa to play. I mean the player who had no required documents. The officials did everything to frustrate us but at the end of the day we defied all the odds”, he said.
