MBERENGWA – Black Eagles FC are back at the summit of the Midlands Province ZIFA Division 2A log table after beating Chachacha FC 2-0 at Simbi Stadium on Saturday.
The result means they lip-frogged their fancied opponents who had come into the match as log leaders. Black Eagles have now amassed a total of 35 points, two points ahead of Chachacha.
The Buchwa-based side which has been finding the going tough, has since resurrected finding their winning formula in recent weeks with two straight wins which propelled them to the summit of the log table.
However, the log leaders face serious challenges for the top honours from Chachacha and Mbesa FC.
Speaking to The Midweek Watch after the match, Black Eagles team manager Wilbert Zveshure said the match was physically tough but they were prepared tactically.
“The match was tough in terms of the physical approach by the opponents, but when it came to the tactical approach, we had an edge for the better part of the game. We dominated play from the onset though they caused us some anxious moments in the second half;” he said.
The match seemed as if it was heading for a goalless draw until the 75th minute when Black Eagles man of the moment Mandla Ngwenya opened the scoring with a clinical volley to send the Black Eagles faithful into delirium and ensure three points for the Buchwa-based outfit.
