Gweru – The Catholic Diocese of Gweru Bishop Rudolf Nyandoro has directed that all Priests –in –Charge and school heads to buy liturgical books for students from Mambo Press only with immediate effect.

Gweru Diocese Bishop Rudolf Nyandoro.

Bishop Nyandoro made the directive through a letter dated December 6, 2024 which is in possession of The Midweek Watch.

“With the release of the Grade Seven results for 2024 by ZIMSEC, I urge you to exercise prudence in the recruitment of Form 1 classes to safeguard the Catholic identity and integrity of our institutions.

“Therefore, please ensure that all new students (both Catholic and Non-Catholic) receive the three essential liturgical books, the Minamato , the English Hymm Book, and the Bible, all supplied by Mambo Press , as has been the norm in previous years.

“Additionally, I kindly ask that those already enrolled in our Catholic schools, who do not have these essential books, contact Mambo Press to obtain them,” wrote Bishop Nyandoro.

Mambo Press was established in 1956 as the property of Gweru Diocese known as the Catholic Mission Press and was officially opened in February 1959. It registered 2 companies namely, Mambo Bookshops and Moto Magazine. Mambo Press is and has always been a committed Catholic Church organisation in the bookselling, bookbinding, printing and publishing industry.

For decades Mambo Press was struggling because Catholic schools were buying stationery from private companies leading to closure of most of its branches countrywide.

The Bishop also said that the Solna Web Machine for exercise books and other stationery materials, such as exam sheets and more, has been repaired and is now functional and he urged schools to contact the age old company all their stationary requirements.

“For those undertaking infrastructural wall renovations, I encourage you to inquire with Mambo Press Chemicals regarding painting supplies, read the letter in our possession.
