Alert driver foils attempt to send snake to SA for rituals by woman

MASVING0-The transit business centre of Ngundu in Chivi was abuzz on Saturday with news about a woman who allegedly intended to send a snake as parcel to South Africa with a cross border bus driver.
The huge python which was in a Changani bag was allegedly meant for her son domiciled in South Africa for rituals to make money.
The shocking incident happened on Saturday at the busy transit business centre notorious for prostitution.
The bizarre incident was unearthed by an alert cross border bus driver who requested the woman to open the parcel that she wanted to send to the rainbow country as he wanted to ascertain the contents of the luggage.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said he was yet to get the story from ZRP Ngundu.
A source said the woman was whisked away by Police after people started baying for her blood and some wanted to kill the huge reptile.
A source who was at Ngundu said shop attendants, passersby, vendors and commuters thronged the bus as they wanted to have a glimpse of the woman and the protected species which is on the brink of extinction hence it is protected.
“Some people were even injured as they stampeded to get a glimpse of the huge reptile, shops were left unattended as shopkeepers wanted to see the mysterious event which left people speechless at Ngundu,” said the source who declined to be named for fear of being bewitched by the woman.
