The build up to this year’s election is quite interesting owing to all the twists and turns that have been witnessed from the primary elections themself up to nomination paper filing.
A number of presidential aspirants have shown their intention to lead Zimbabwe. On the other hand, a considerable number of political actors from all the major political outfits felt betrayed somehow and have stood as independent candidates. Of all these, the highest and of note is Savious ‘Tyson’ Kasukuwere.
It’s a pity that such a man thinks Zimbabweans will just decide to throw him in the fold. How can he stand against the system that took him from the political rubbles to make him the politician he is today? Not plausible at all. Nobody knows with politics, miracles are no exception especially since we have ‘great’ men of God like the heavenly commander Prophet Madungwe.
Not to mention Reverend Emmanuel Makandiwa who claims he is more gifted than God. Some have cited this as heretic and blasphemous while his followers see nothing wrong with such an absurd utterance. Very comic, isn’t it?
The political arena itself has also been turned to a political circus. Is Tyson really in for it or just a ploy to divide the ZANU PF votes? Anyway, everyone is now in election mode and warming up for the greatest political showdown. To me this is a different election altogether to determine the fate of the Second Republic.
It has been the hope of every Jack and Jill that the economic crunch would have been attended to but it seems the worsening crisis has set its anchor in the teapot shaped nation. In spite of all this, the 2nd Republic ship has set sail and made considerable changes in infrastructure development but it seems the opposition feel its not enough.
The major opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change has been lamenting what they have termed an illegal incarceration of one of their long serving lieutenants Job Sikhala who has been behind bars for inciting violence in Seke. Some local and international political analysts feel Job Sikhala has been betrayed by his lieutenants but I don’t know how exactly.
No one regardless of political affluence is immune to the wrath of the law. If you falter you have to be dealt with.
Whatever the case might be, with all the doubt that the CCC has always put on the system what makes them certain all would be rosy in the upcoming elections.
Maybe the overconfidence and complacency they have regarding the polls would be extinguished as the polls run. That moment they would be crying foul play. Feeling very betrayed!
The Russo-Ukraine war is not void of drama too. The elite military group Wagner betrayed Vladimir Putin by turning to Moscow. Friend turned foe.
Although several attempts to downplay this has been effected however the tug of war is not to Russia’s advantage. History seems to be repeating itself although Russians have always been the lucky lot. During the Operation Barbarossa onslaught in the 1940s the winter saved Moscow.
What will save Kremlin this time around? Will Putin soldier on with China also taking Kiev’s hand to come up with an unexpected military union with the former, arguing it respects territorial integrity. Betrayal??? Hameno!
In local showbiz Felistas Murata aka Mai Titi was also ‘betrayed’ by the legal system and sentenced to nine months behind bars. The Cat family is standing by her in spite of all the fraud charges she is being accused of. Why she chose to call her self the cat I wonder.
Probably its because she thought like the cat she has nine lives. Like the cat she has called herself she was given nine months. So deserving of the cat.
Zimbabwe social media has been awash with celebrations as the national cricket team, the Chevrons are hogging the limelight. The Chevrons have gathered all and sundry to the cricket grounds and the fan base is growing.
Even those who have not been following cricket have taken interest. Bravo to the team for all the runs, catches, wickets and lbws. It takes me back to the days I was at Gampu Primary School in Bulawayo where I was in the school cricket team. Whenever Zimbabwe played an international game at Queens Sports Club we would go.
Back then the Zimbabwean Cricket Team had lots of white guys the likes of Heath Streak, Andy and Robie Flower and a few black guys like pace bowler Henry Olonga. Cricket is a growing sport and a semingly panacea to all the woes bedevilling the Zimbabwean population.
The national netball team, the Gems who booked their place at the netball World Cup Tournament in Capetown have two former Mwenezi Government High School students Beaula Hlungwani and Progress Moyo on their lineup.
The people of Mwenezi, even those down in Boterere are behind the national team for the sake of the pair raising the Masvingo flag high. Bravo bravo!!! They are highly elated that one of theirs is raising the flag high.
Mwenezi or Masvingo in general is stamping it’s on the national arts grid. I bumped into a song by Fungai Muposhi on social media lamenting about corruption. Its a touching song from the upcoming artist. With arts we will rise rise n rise.
