-father narrates the whole drama

MIDWEEK REPORTER

ZAKA-The man who made headlines recently for being reunited with his real family after being stolen by a chicky woman from Chivhu in Masasa area 30 years ago.

Matthew Bwazo who was renamed Tinashe James Ncube by Simangaliso Rufu who had stolen him has since started relocating from Kadoma where he had built a house to join his real family in Chivamba Village under Chief Bota in Zaka.

Simangaliso Rufu who stole the baby 30 years ago.

Tinashe’s real father, Clever Bwazo told The Midweek Watch, which first broke the story, that they have put up the Kadoma homestead for sale as he is now joining them in Zaka with his wife and four children.

“If you want to buy a homestead there is one in Kadoma that we are selling as my son is now joining us after 30 years staying with strangers whom he thought was his real family.

“We have decided to put everything that happened behind us and move on with life,” said Bwazo who was bubbling with happiness.

Bwazo narrated how they ended up reuniting with their son 30 years after they thought he had been stolen by ritualists and probably killed to boost someone’s business.

The Bwazos are members of the African Apostolic Church under Bishop Ngoni Mwazha and Zaka is under Masvingo East Province which incorporates Gutu, Bikita and Chiredzi.

“The whole issue started in July when we had our Gungano at my homestead because I am a muvhangeri in Chivamba area in Zaka.

“One muroti (prophet) just said I can hear a voice of a child crying out for help somewhere and that is when we started thinking about our stolen child.

“We were advised to fast or kukumbirira as a family and when a provincial sowe (church gathering) was held in August this year at Jerera where Muroti Masimba called out my name unfortunately I was not there. He sent some emissaries to my homestead and emphasised to them that I should pray very hard as a miracle was about to happen and that my child was alive and living somewhere.

“After two weeks we had a tombstone unveiling ceremony at my homestead and one of the people who attended said there is a child who grew up Chivhu Masasa area who was nicknamed Chinongwa.

“He said the ‘mother’ of the child told the community that she picked up the babe while wrapped in a towel somewhere a long time ago but he was not sure where the boy is now,” narrated Bwazo.

The second born, who had been named Matthew after the tragedy started the search and went as far as Chivhu to the primary school that he attended and got the name that he was using.

Matthew searched on all social media platforms and bumped into the name on Facebook as well as the contact details.

They started communicating and Tinashe agreed to come to Zimbabwe from his base in South Africa for DNA tests and one thing led to the other.

“It is almost impossible to describe how happy the family is and my first born could not believe that he has been reunited with his family after 30 years.

“He confessed that he never believed that the woman he was calling mother was his real mother all his life.

“As for my wife (Sarah Zhou), she was in cloud nine when the DNA tests confirmed her as the real mother.

“Tinashe persuaded us to drop the matter against Rufu that we had reported at Chikato 30 years ago and allow the woman to live her life, we agreed as a family to let bygones be bygones and move on with our lives,” added Bwazo.

When asked on whether they will change his name, Bwazo said they will meet as a family and map the way forward.

The Mwazha Church’s secretary general Amos Muserepi promised to comment but had not done so by the time of posting the story.
