2 nabbed for murder in Masvingo

Anotidaishe Mutero (18) has been arrested for murder in Masvingo. According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Mutero, from Chipato Village, Chief Chitanga, Mwenezi, fatally stabbed Edmore Mavesere with a spear on December 25, 2024, at Section 28, Triangle.

The police said Masevere had caught Mutero and his accomplices stealing maize cobs in the irrigation fields. Three other accused persons, including Samuel Mutero, are still at large. Masvingo Province police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the arrest and is appealing for information leading to the capture of the remaining suspects.

“We applaud members of the public for supplying information that resulted in the arrest of Anotidaishe Mutero,” Dhewa said.

“We urge anyone with information about the whereabouts of Samuel Mutero and the other two accused persons to come forward,” he added.

In a separate incident, Edmore Mukuze was arrested on January 5, 2025, for allegedly murdering Noel Chauke at Chiradzamunda Business Centre, Mkwasine. The two had a misunderstanding, which escalated into violence, resulting in Chauke being struck three times on the head with a log.

Both accused persons are expected to appear in court soon.

The ZRP has commended the public for their assistance in bringing the perpetrators to justice and continues to seek information about the outstanding suspects.
