Police arrested Shadreck Sithole, a 45-year-old male from Duma Location, Nyika Growth Point, Bikita, for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs and has since been sentenced to 34 months behind bars.
The incident has been confirmed by Masvingo Province ZRP spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa.
On December 30, detectives from Masvingo received a tip-off that Sithole was dealing in dagga at his residence.
Detectives intercepted Sithole as he entered his yard, carrying a satchel containing a plastic bag with loose dagga.
According to Inspector Dehwa, further searches of his house uncovered five more plastic bags with dagga, weighing 2.324kg valued at US$200.
On January 3, 2025, Sithole appeared at the Bikita Magistrate Court and was sentenced to 34 months imprisonment, with four months suspended for five years.
Inspector Dehwa applauded the public for providing vital information that led to Sithole’s arrest as this will go a long way in helping to fight the scourge of drugs and substance abuse.
