11 year drowns in Mutevekwi River

Shurugwi-A -tragic incident occurred in Shurugwi last week, where an 11-year-old girl drowned while swimming in the Mutevekwi River.
According to the Midlands province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the victim has been identified as Lordshare Kubvuruno, a student at Musasa Primary School.
Kubvuruno and her 13-year-old sister were on their way home from school when they decided to take a swim in the river.
While swimming, Kubvuruno unfortunately drowned, and her sister’s efforts to rescue her were unsuccessful.
Her body was later retrieved by villagers, who then reported the incident to the police.
Inspector Mahoko has urged the public to avoid swimming in water bodies without proper supervision by qualified personnel, in order to prevent similar tragic occurrences.
