George Chigova’s family spokesperson has revealed that the former Zimbabwe Warriors goalkeeper George Chigova’s body will arrive in Zimbabwe today from South Africa.
Godfrey ‘Vokal’ Bakasa said a confirmed flight was booked for a 10:30am departure for Wednesday and his burial is slated for Saturday in his home town, Chivhu.
Chigova passed away last week in South Africa due to suspected heart complications at the age of 32.
Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) said Chigova was a beloved member of the Warriors family and will be deeply missed.
“His contribution to the national team and to football in Zimbabwe will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Chigova’s family, friends, and the whole football fraternity during this difficult time,” said ZIFA.
Chigova was survived by his wife and three children.
Meanwhile, locally based Warriors and officials are expected to arrive in Harare this afternoon at 1435 hours while foreign based players returned to their bases from Kigali.
Coaches are to remain in Rwanda and will return at a later date.
