GWERU- Police have confirmed two road traffic accidents, one in which 2 people died and another that left 6 people injured in Zvishavane last week.
The fatal road traffic accident happened at 118 km peg along Gweru- Zvishavane road when two motor vehicles, a Toyota Hilux double cab and a Honda motorbike collided head on.
Aaron Makoni ( 33) was driving a Toyota Hilux owned by Midlands Aids Caring Organisation( MASO) towards Gweru
Blessed Nyoni of Village Mukwekwe under Chief Hwedza was riding a motorbike towards Zvishavane carrying one passenger.
On approaching the 118km peg the two automobiles collided head – on. Blessed and his passenger Tanyaradzwa Hove (23) were injured.
Police attended the scene after receiving a report and took the injured to Zvishavane District Hospital where both unfortunately died on admission.
There is a suspicion that one motor vehicle encroached into the other’s lane and investigations are going on to get the full details of the case.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko has called for caution on the roads.
“We reiterate our call to drivers to avoid over speeding so that they remain in full control of their motor vehicles,” Mahoko said.
