Zvish trio jailed for stock theft

GWERU- Three men from Zvishavane have been sentenced to 9 years imprisonment each for stealing and slaughtering a beast from Hwahwa Prison Farm.

The three, Chrispen Matondo (40),Tanaka Murerekwa (24) ,and Enock Mpofu (32) appeared before the Gweru Provincial Magistrate Arnold Mabhunu .

Public Prosecutor Taurai Mauto told the court that on January 22,2025, the trio hired a motor vehicle from Zvishavane and travelled along the Gweru-Mvuma road hunting cattle until they slaughtered one beast at Hwahwa Prison Farm .

They used the hired motor vehicle to carry the carcass to their market in Gweru’s Mkoba high density suburbs where their activities were detected leading to their subsequent arrest.
