ZVISHAVANE–A 36-year-old man from Village Msiza under Chief Mafala in Zvishavane is battling for his life at Zvishavane District Hospital after he was viciously stabbed several times following a dispute linked to an old grudge.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the incident, saying police have arrested one suspect while a manhunt is underway to account for the other culprit.

According to police, the assault took place on Sunday night, October 19, 2025, at around 10 PM when the victim, Sydney Mujinga, was walking to Ndinaneni Business Centre.

Along the way, he encountered two men both from the same village.

“An argument believed to have emanated from previous grudges ensued, leading to the two suspects attacking Mujinga. They stabbed him on the forehead, stomach, and chest using a homemade knife,” said Mahoko.

The victim reportedly collapsed, screaming for help, while the assailants fled into the darkness.

Two Good Samaritans who happened to pass by rushed to his aid, and a well-wisher provided transport to Zvishavane District Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.

Inspector Mahoko said preliminary investigations led to the arrest of Edmore Moyo, while Fortunate Moyo remains at large.

“The police are appealing to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the outstanding suspect to report at any nearest police station,” he said.

Mahoko urged the public to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes, warning that violent confrontations often lead to tragic outcomes.
