ZRP recovers US$15k stolen property

MASVINGO-The ZRP has nabbed two more armed robbers in Masvingo and recovered weapons used in committing crimes and other stolen goods worth US$15 000.

Michael Moyo also known as Joseph Ushe (27) and Jacob Enjoyment Danda (36) were arrested on February 25 and the other two are Regis Tami (37) and Tinashe Marufu (23) the following day.

During the parade of the stolen property at Masvingo Central Police Station on February 28, it was revealed that the gang met during their time in prison.

Speaking to the media Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed that investigations are still going on as the gang committed 21 robberies in Masvingo alone.

“The accused are so far charged with 21 counts, two of for unlawful entry. However, the investigations are still in progress and we have established that the armed robberies were committed in January.

“We encourage members of the public to comply with the armed robbers when under attack to avoid unnecessary loss of life,” said Dhewa.

 On February 25 at around 0100 hours four male suspects broke and entered a house in Zimre Park, Masvingo.

They robbed four occupants of that house using machetes and got away with laptops and cellphones.

The four split into two groups, Michael Moyo and Joseph E. Danda went on and took a private car at Dhiyo Business Centre and headed towards Bulawayo.

The owner of the vehicle suspected the two accused people and alerted the police.

 The police reacted to the information and arrested Danda and Moyo at Mandamabwe Tollgate where they recovered six iphones, 3 laptops, two iron bars, a torch and a screw driver.

Marufu and Tami were arrested in Zaka the following day.
