MASVINGO-Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Deputy Commissioner-General Lorin Chipato represented Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba at the 23rd Royal Eswatini Police Service Day celebrations held at Matsapa Police Academy in the Kingdom of Eswatini on July 31.
The high-profile event was attended by His Majesty King Mswati III and brought together Police Chiefs and senior security officials from across the Southern African Development Community (SADC), reaffirming the region’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in law enforcement.
Deputy Commissioner-General Chipato, who was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Blessmore Chishaka and Chief Superintendent Chikono, joined other regional police leaders in the ceremonial parade and official proceedings that honoured the dedication, professionalism and service of members of the Royal Eswatini Police Service.
The celebrations also provided an opportunity for security leaders to strengthen partnerships in the fight against transnational crimes, including cross-border criminal activities, human trafficking, drug smuggling and organised crime.
The engagement underscored the importance of closer collaboration among member states of the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) in enhancing regional peace and security.
Speaking through the event’s objectives, police authorities highlighted that continued engagement among regional police services is critical in improving intelligence sharing, operational coordination and collective responses to emerging security threats affecting the SADC region.
Zimbabwe’s participation at the commemorations reflects the country’s commitment to regional policing cooperation and the promotion of strong working relationships with neighbouring law enforcement agencies.
ZRP National Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed Zimbabwe’s participation in the Royal Eswatini Police Service Day celebrations, saying Deputy Commissioner-General Lorin Chipato represented Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba at the event in Eswatini.
