MILLICENT HUNGWE
The national police force has embarked on massive recruitment drive targeting young and fit individuals to join its ranks as general duty constables.
ZRP National Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated that the selected candidates will undergo a two-year diploma program in Police Studies at Mkushi Police Academy, an affiliate of the University of Zimbabwe.
To be eligible, applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old, with a minimum of five Ordinary level passes, including Mathematics, English Language, and a Science subject, obtained in no more than two sittings.
They must also meet specific physical requirements, including a minimum height and weight, and be able to complete a 5km road run within a specified time frame.
Those interested leave their application letters at the nearest police station in their area.
“Applicants must have a minimum height of 1,68m barefoot and weigh not less 59kgs for males,” said Commissioner Nyati.
Nyathi warned the public to be wary of fraudsters who pretend to work for the police force out to con innocent people.
“The only designated person for this recruitment exercise is Superintendent A Badza contactable on 0712 806 329,” he said.
