Harare – The ZRP has announced a recruitment exercise for suitably qualified candidates to join the force as General Duty Constables.
The successful 1000 candidates will undergo a two-year training program at the Mkushi (formerly Morris Depot) Police Training Academy, leading to a Diploma in Police Studies.
National ZRP spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi told The Midweek that they are targeting to recruit 1000 officers but refused to divulge the number of police officers in the country.
“We are targeting 1000 recruits, as for the number of total police officers in the country, unfortunately that one I cannot disclose for security reasons,” said the soft spoken veteran police officer.

According to a statement issued by the Police on their social accounts, they said applicants must be Zimbabwean citizens, physically fit, and meet specific requirements and aged between 18 and 22.
The application process requires a handwritten letter, life history, and supporting documents, which must be submitted in person to the nearest Police Station by July 18, 2024.
The police have warned the public to be cautious of fraudulent recruitment scams on social media and emphasized that Superintendent Banda is the only authorized contact person for the recruitment exercise.
Successful candidates will enjoy a range of benefits, including free uniforms, medical and dental care, housing and transport allowances, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
This recruitment drive offers a chance for young Zimbabweans to serve their country and build a rewarding career in law enforcement.
ZRP embarks on regular recruitments to beef up its force and replace those who would have died or retired.
