The Zimbabwe Republic Police, Masvingo province have applauded the public for assisting them in the fight against crime after the community supplied information which led to the arrest of two notorious Chiredzi armed robbers on Friday
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa in a press statement said police arrested two male suspects Tobias Chidavaenzi aged 54 of Village Musariri, Chief Nyakunhuwa, Zakaand Leonard Muzenda aged 20 of Village Lisimati, Chief Chilonga, Chiredzi for armed robbery.
Inspector Dhewa added that the arrest of the two helped the police to clear 7 Robbery Cases which were committed by the two suspects.
He said on 24 March 2024, at around 2000 hours, Tariro Mafodya, a female aged 27, and a shop keeper at Rockman Investments, retired to bed in her bedroom which is behind the shop.
At around 0150 hours on 25/03/2024 the two suspects broke and entered into Tariro Mafodya’s bedroom where they ordered her at gunpoint to surrender cash.
The two took ZAR 1000 cash, groceries worth ZAR 295 and a Samsung J4 cellphone with an Econet line valued at ZAR 1200.
Matter was later reported to the Police.
“As Zimbabwe Republic Police Masvingo Province, we applaud members of the public for supplying positive information.
“Investigations were instituted leading to the arrest of the two suspects after receiving leading information from members of the public.
“Police managed to recover some of the stolen items and the firearm which was used by the suspects to commit the robbery case,” reads the statement.
