Zim’s little ones shine at Marimba Preschool Festival

The Marimba Preschool Festival, a termly event aimed at nurturing young talent, this second term was held on 25 July, celebrating early childhood education.
The festival brought together 35 preschools from across Zimbabwe from 8 who attended the previous event.
It was held at the picturesque Shumba Gardens, which is located in Greendale, Manresa Park in Harare.
Festival director, Desire Mabhiza expressed his gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the Marimba Preschool Festival, highlighting the unwavering dedication of educators, school authorities, and key team members.
“I would like to acknowledge the generous support from our sponsors, such as the National Dance Association of Zimbabwe (NDAZ) team, school directors, Wanamari, Kidz Books World, Kumusha Adventure and the participating schools, whose invaluable contributions made the event both memorable and impactful,”
Mabhiza shared his excitement about the festival’s growing popularity, noting that “the event attracted more than quadruple the number of participating schools compared to last year. As the influence of the festival continues to spread,”.
Mabhiza said they intend to make it bigger and better by inviting schools from other countries so that the festival has international flavour.
This programme is held every term where in the first term they will be competitions of drum majorrates and percussion.
The second school term is reserved for contemporary dance and poems competition and the third term will be a marimba and traditional dance competition.
Under the bright Zimbabwean sky, young poets took to the stage, reciting powerful verses about the importance of staying away from drugs and dangerous substances.
The main theme of the poetry performances was a testament to the potential of youth in shaping a brighter future for the country.
Alongside poetry, the event featured energetic dance routines that kept the tens of parents, teachers, fellow students that came to witness the children performing on their edges.
With a focus on creativity, self-expression, and education, the festival served as a shining example of the importance of nurturing young talents.
Among the standout performances, three exceptional schools were recognized for their achievements and received certificates and trophies: Angel Island came first, followed by Chishawasha Mission School, and on the third place was The I Study Centre.
All the participants had complementary medals and other trophies for their outstanding performances.
With its burgeoning success and a focus on fostering a sense of community through creativity and education, the Marimba Preschool Festival stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in enriching the lives of young learners and creating a lasting impact on the community and beyond.
