ZIFA ERSL title race wide open as Tenax silences Zhalala Zhululu

CHIMANIMANI -Stubborn Bikita Minerals FC shot to the summit of the ZIFA Eastern Region Soccer League log with a 1-0 triumph over Rusitu Tigers FC at Ndima School ground yesterday thanks to the drubbing of FC Wangu Mazodze by Tenax FC 2-0.
The result threw the race for Premiership wide open as any of the four teams can find themselves rubbing shoulders with the best of Zimbabwean football next year.
The victory over surprise package, Rusitu saw the lithium boys dislodging FC Wangu Mazodze FC who have been at the helm of the log for the better part of the season.
Bikita Minerals FC now have 56 points from their 26 games to date.
FC Wangu Mazodze are now second, one point adrift of new log leaders.
This was after the noisy FC Wangu Mazodze aka Zhalala Zhululu was humiliated by former Premiership side, Tenax FC 2-0 to Tenax FC yesterday Mutare Showgrounds.
For Bikita Minerals, Tawanda Mulenga put the game to bed 37 minutes into the first half after scoring the only goal that the lithium boys needed to collect maximum points.
Rusitu Tigers FC were not even a threat to a well marshalled Bikita Minerals defence as the visitors dominated exchanges throughout the exciting match.
Tenax FC got their goals from Justice Gadzani who put them in front after 37 minutes of play.
Tenax FC sealed their victory after Takunda Mapara scored in the 52 minutes to put the game beyond the Masvingo based ambitious club which had threatened to easily win the sole ticket into the elite league at the end of the season with scintillating displays this season.
Their loss the Tenax means any of the top four teams can be crowned champions at the end of the season if they remain consistent.
Meanwhile, at Chiremba School ground, JM Busha 54 FC drew nil all with visiting side Manica Diamonds Under-19 FC.
Four matches are lined up today in various parts of the region.
Midway FC will host bottom side, Chiredzi Stars FC at Vengere stadium while Masvingo United will be home to Surrey FC. The match will be played at Mucheke stadium.
Grayham FC will clash with FC Hunters at Chiremba School ground. FC Hunters top striker Harrison Masina who is also the league’s current top goal scorer will be looking to add more to his 17 goals.
Struggling Renco Mine FC will host the army side Buffaloes FC at Maramba Stadium.
