MIDLANDS – Chapungu co-skipper Edward Watson is leading the race for the Golden Boot in the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Division 1 Soccer League 2024 season.
Despite his team having three games in hand, Watson has already scored 13 goals after match day 26, tying him with Blessing Sibanda of TelOne FC, who won the award last season.
However, Watson has more games to play, increasing the probability of him surpassing Sibanda’s current tally.
Last season’s Best Eleven finalist Simon Shanga is also proving his worth in the Tongogara jersey, having already banged in 10 goals.
Shanga is also in contention for the award, with more matches still to be played.

10 goals – Simon Shanga (Tongogara)
9 goals – Peter Gore (ZRP Gwanda)

6 goals – Blessed Tembo (Beitbridge FC), Benedict Sithole (Dulibadzimu United), Amicable Sibanda (FC Platinum), Menford Mudzimu (Shabanie Mine), Newman Sianchali (Sheasham), Clavelo DS Nyoni (West Nicholson)
The race for the Golden Boot remains wide open, with several players in close contention.
