HARARE: ZIFA has appointed Yvonne Mapika Manwa as the new chief executive officer with effect from November 1, 2023.

ZIFA said Manwa will be responsible for leading the secretariat into its next phase under the Normalisation Committee.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mrs Manwa to our team, and we believe her experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue on the mission to transform Zimbabwean football,” ZIFA chairperson, Lincoln Mutasa said.

He said Manwa has years of experience in senior leadership and football administration positions, having been the CEO of elite football club, Ngezi Platinum Stars where she left under controversial circumstances.

The football mother body has been without a substantive CEO  since the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended Joseph Mamutse in 2021.

Mamutse-suspended together with the then-SRC director-general Prince Mupazviriho was then reinstated but he never resumed his duties as he got entangled in the boardroom battles between the Felton Kamambo-led board and the sports regulator.
