ZHOMBE-Enock Mugagwi (27) from Nhengure Village under Chief Malisa, Zhombe has been killed by a rival suitor for proposing love to a 15 year old girl while coming from a soccer tournament.
Themba Nyandeni (25) who is on the run allegedly stabbed Mugagwi after he saw him accompanying the girl from a soccer match held at Nhengure Primary School.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident that occurred on September 10, 2023 at around 6:30pm.
Insp Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that Nyandeni became angry when he saw that Mugagwi was proposing love to the young girl whom he once proposed.
“The suspect drew an okapi knife from his trousers and stabbed Mugagwi once on the chest and fled. Mugagwi fell down and died on the spot,” he said.
Mahoko added that a report was made at ZRP Zhombe and investigations are in progress.
He appealed to members of the public who might have information that may lead to the arrest of Nyandeni to inform the nearest police station.
