ZHOMBE-A 33-year-old man from Kawasala Village in Zhombe was fatally stabbed with a knife at Tshapewa Business Centre in a suspected revenge attack.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirms a case of murder of a 33-year -old man who was stabbed with a Colombian knife at Tshapewa Business Centre in Zhombe,”he said.

According to Mahoko, the now deceased Proud Moyo (33) and the  suspect Philani Kawasala had been drinking beer together at the business centre before the tragic incident.

Moyo left the shopping centre going home but Kawasala followed him and assaulted him with a log before stabbing him with a knife.

A passerby intervened and assisted Moyo to reach at his uncle’s homestead where he succumbed to the injuries shortly after his arrival.

According to the police report, preliminary investigations indicated that the two had a long-standing grudge which started in 2017 when Moyo allegedly stabbed Kawasala with a knife and in this incident Kawasala was acting in revenge.

Mahoko said police are appealing for assistance to locate Kawasala who escaped following the incident. He urged members of the public to desist from solving their disputes through violent ways.

“Police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Kawasala to be passed to any police station.  Once again, we are urging members of the public to resolve disputes in a peaceful way,” he said.
