ZAKA-A 30-year-old man from Masikati Village under Chief Nyakunhuwa in Zaka tragically ended his life on the morning of November 23, in what is suspected to be a case of suicide driven by emotional distress over family issues.
The deceased, Richard Mugura, who worked as a DJ at Muchakata Bar, reportedly returned home after work on the night of November 22 and confided in his wife, Mercy Mairi (30), that he felt unloved by his relatives and was contemplating suicide.
According to reports, Mugura left his home around 7am the following morning and proceeded to Jerera Growth Point, to drink beer.
He later went to Chitima Market in the industrial area, where he was found hanging from a tree near the TelOne building using a piece of wire.
The body was discovered at around 8am by Trust Marimira (34) of Ginjika Village, who was on his way home.
He alerted authorities, and ZRP officers attended the scene. The body was later conveyed to Ndanga District Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem.
Confirming the incident, ZRP Masvingo Provincial Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa urged members of the public to seek help when facing emotional or social difficulties.
“We urge members of the community to refrain from taking their own lives when facing challenges. There is help available through professional counselling services, the police, or church leaders,” said Inspector Dhewa.
