HARARE-The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Queen Elizabeth High School’s accountant, Josiah Chagumaira (45), for allegedly misappropriating school funds.
Circumstances are that sometime in January 2025, Queen Elizabeth High School engaged Juwacorn Electrical Construction for the services of repairing sink, roof and shower and were quoted US$2 732.80.
Upon completion of the work, Chagumaira allegedly made double payment for the services rendered and later instructed the contractor to withdraw the funds and hand over the cash to him.
The contractor complied and thereafter notified the school head who reported the matter to ZACC leading to Chagumaira’s arrest.
He is set to appear at the Harare Magistrates Court on March 13, 2025, for initial remand.
