-as Rachel Marangwanda launches debut anthology
MILLICENT HUNGWE
At just 19 years old, Rachel Yevedzo Marangwanda is already proving that age is no barrier to deep emotion, powerful words, and impactful storytelling, through her debut anthology, Closet of Emotions.

The anthology will be officially launched on August 16 at Ambassador Hotel from 2pm to 4pm.
Rachel is the youngest in a family of seven, and her journey from her roots in Chiweshe to studying at Bindura University of Science Education is as inspiring as the poetry she pens.
The momentous occasion for the young author whose literary journey began in 2019 when she wrote the book.
The 55-page anthology is a raw, emotional exploration of grief, anger, loss, and healing.

Marangwanda’s poems reflect personal and collective struggles, touching on themes that are often difficult to speak about, such as suicide and mental health.
But rather than dwell in despair, Closet of Emotions is a book that serves as a beacon of hope.
“It expresses that feeling low is natural but it’s not the permanent residence of survival,” she says. “It brings hope to the lost, love to the broken-hearted, and peace to the troubled.”
Among the standout pieces are My Bones Will Rise Again! and Carried Legacy, which convey resilience and the desire to inspire generations to come.
Another powerful piece, When Shall We Stand, confronts societal ills like gender-based violence and injustice.
Rachel credits her spiritual journey and inspiration from Bhekimpilo Dube a brother in Christ, for encouraging her to pursue her passion.
Through his guidance, she joined the Poets and Writers Den, a nurturing platform that helped her grow and refine her gift.
As she looks ahead, Rachel promises that this is only the beginning. “I’m promising a bigger and better anthology filled with hope, love, and so much motivation, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel,” she says.
With honesty, vulnerability, and a deep well of emotion, Marangwanda is not just releasing a book, she is opening a closet full of healing for all who dare to step inside.
