Zvishavane- YAFM Station Manager Forbes Mugadza has dismissed rumors of the radio station’s closure in Zvishavane.
Mugadza denied speculation that YAFM is relocating to Gweru and closing its Zvishavane offices.
“YAFM originated in Zvishavane, focusing on the Great Dyke region, it’s objective is to cover this area, which cannot be achieved with a single transmitter; we require more than three,” he explained.
The Broadcasting Association of Zimbabwe has granted YAFM five frequencies, including 91.80 in Zvishavane, The Midweek Watch has learnt.
The station operates studios in Zvishavane and a second transmission station in Gweru’s Kopje area, broadcasting on 101.9 frequency.
Mugadza reassured listeners, “YAFM remains in Zvishavane, located at Number 52 Robert Mugabe Way, next to the Methodist Church. We are expanding our reach and have acquired land for a state-of-the-art facility at Number 1, our broadcasting arrangement has changed, but we continue to broadcast from either Gweru or Zvishavane.”
Presenter Tendai Nyasuwa, also known as Dr. T, clarified the reason for the station’s office relocation.
“Our previous structure had water damage due to porous walls, which affected our equipment. We have moved to the present location to ensure uninterrupted broadcasting.”
YAFM remains committed to serving the Great Dyke region and listeners can continue to tune in to their favorite programs, confident that the station is growing and improving its services, said Nyasuwa.
