Woman murdered on her doorstep

A Buhera woman was brutally murdered at her place of residence moments after arriving from Masvingo.

Ivy Mangwanya (40) of Mangwanya Village, Chief Nerutanga arrived home last Saturday at around 7pm. She had left no one at her home before she travelled to Masvingo.

Upon arrival, while she was on the doorstep of her bedroom, she was stabbed once on the throat with a sharp unknown weapon by an unknown person.

The now deceased screamed for help and Torment Mangwanya (51) her cousin brother rushed to the scene and found her lying on the ground bleeding severely and gasping for air.

She died a few seconds later and Mangwanya alerted his wife Kudzai Kutebuka (43) who also rushed to the scene. Neighbors gathered at the scene of the murder after hearing the commotion.

Manicaland Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the unfortunate incident and said that no suspect has been apprehended.

Police found a bag suspected to belong to Ivy containing one bowl hat and some foodstuffs abandoned about 20 metres from the scene while the deceased’s bag was abandoned about 1km away.

The suspect stole Vodafone smartphone and a bag containing various clothes, all valued at ZiG1 627.
