Woman arrested for unlawful cultivation of dagga

MBERENGWA- Police in Mberengwa district in the Midlands province has arrested Zvipozvashe Masuku (21) from Machovha Village for illegally cultivating dagga.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the crackdown urging citizens to desist from dealing with dangerous drugs without licences.

“It is confirmed that ZRP Mberengwa arrested a 21- year- old woman for unlawful cultivation of dagga which occurred in Machovha Village under Chief Chingoma in Mberengwa,” he said.

According to Mahoko, Masuku was arrested on March 17, 2025 by a team of police officers who were on patrol.

Police uprooted 21 plants of dagga from her garden.

Masuku was arraigned before the Mberengwa Magistrate Court on March 21, 2025 where she was convicted and sentenced to 630 hours of community service.
