Masvingo-Enesy Wedza (67) (pictured below), a resident of Rujeko A in Masvingo, is appealing for financial assistance to purchase a medical stent that will help her eat after being diagnosed with a serious oesophageal growth.

Wedza is suffering from a circumferential ulceroproliferative growth spanning from 25cm to 35cm from the incisor which bleeds on contact.
The condition has left her unable to eat normally and has significantly affected her mobility.
In an interview with The Midweek Watch, her son, Vincent Mahala said the condition was discovered three months ago at Parirenyatwa Hospital after an X-ray examination.
“The doctors discovered the growth during the X-ray. Since November, her condition has worsened and it has affected her ability to walk and eat,” said Mahala.
He added that his mother is currently being fed through a drip as she can no longer swallow food.
“She is eating through a drip. I have been using my own funds for X-rays and hospital visits but now I am financially exhausted,” he said.
Mahala is appealing to well wishers to assist with funds to purchase a stent that will enable his mother to eat. The stent costs US$880 while the required operation at Parirenyatwa Hospital is estimated at US$15,000.
Wedza is currently admitted at Masvingo Provincial Hospital.
